Stollen French Toast
Ingredients
1 loaf American Spoon Midwest Stollen, cut into 1-inch slices
6 large eggs
1 1/4 cup maple syrup
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups whole milk
American Spoon Maple Syrup and Christmas Cherries to serve
Instructions
1. To make the custard, whisk the eggs, maple syrup, and vanilla in a large bowl until frothy. Whisk in the milk.
2. Place stollen slices in a large rectangular baking dish, leaving a little room between each piece. Pour in the custard and let the stollen soak about five minutes. Carefully flip the slices and let soak for five minutes more.
3. Heat a large nonstick skillet or griddle to medium heat. Add a splash of vegetable oil and a pat of butter. Add the stollen and cook for three to four minutes, then flip. Continue cooking for about three more minutes. Transfer the finished slices to a warm oven and repeat the cooking procedure until all of the French toast is cooked.
4. Serve with butter, maple syrup, and Christmas Cherries.
